East Africa is well and truly open for business!

​

Despite continuing, but occasional, political problems in the north of Ethiopia, we have ourselves travelled there safely and enjoyably during the last many months. The centre and the south of Ethiopia are meanwhile as welcoming and wonderful as always, as are the three other amazing countries

in East Africa where we travel ...

Madagascar, Kenya and Tanzania/Zanzibar.

We attended the extraordinary Ethiopian Timkat festival both in 

Lalibela and in Axum during the last two years, with thousands of Ethiopians from all over the country celebrating their very special Epiphany period.

Even this year, there were numerous foreign tourists in Lalibela for the festival

in spite of the British FCDO's concerns. 

​

We also had an enjoyable private 'Ancient, Historic Ethiopia' tour with enthusiastic guests last April.

​

Last year, we had two very colourful 'Tribes, Mountains and Caves' tours in southern Ethiopia, with great enjoyment for all concerned. In November we ourselves spent sunny and peaceful weeks in Lalibela, followed by another extended stay there just recently - such a special place!

   

[Despite our own proven experiences, we are still deciding to postpone tours

to these northern areas of Ethiopia in 2026 until the British Foreign Office changes its stance.]

Meanwhile, it is all systems go for our 2026/2027 tours in

Madagascar, Kenya and Tanzania/Zanzibar.

 

We have now travelled three times with our 'Kenyan Experience' tour, complete with its three-day Maasai Mara big game safari as its climax.

Our 'Madagascan Odyssey' has already had a total of five outings to date,

and 2025 saw the first of our brand-new 'Magnificent Madagascar' tours taking place, again with great success and enjoyment. 

  

​[There are major road works taking place at the moment on the RN7 in Madagascar, the main route of our 'Odyssey' tour. As a result, we are concentrating exclusively on our wonderful 'Magnificent Madagascar' tour in the north of the island for 2026, with the expectation of the 'Odyssey' reprising in 2027 after the job is done.]
